Quinquina extract has the following effects:

Quinquina can combine with Plasmodium DNA to form a complex, inhibit DNA

replication and RNA transcription, thereby inhibiting protozoal protein synthesis.

Quinquina is used to treat falciparum malaria caused by chloroquine-resistant strains.

It can also be used to treat vivax malaria.

Quinquina can reduce the oxygen consumption of Plasmodium, inhibit the

phosphorylase in Plasmodium and interfere with its sugar metabolism.

Quinquina has a weak stimulant effect on the pregnant uterus.
