Gac is a large, bright red fruit, also known as “sweet gourd”. Its edible part is the outer membrane of the red seed. Its seeds, known as Momordicae in Chinese, have dissipative and cooling properties. The Vietnamese revered Momordica as a “fruit from heaven” and praised its ability to promote longevity, vitality and health. Therefore, it is also called “paradise fruit”.
