1)Estrogen function

Soybean extract powder isoflavones are representative phytoestrogens. It can replace estrogen and combine with ER to function as estrogen. The researchers formed a research group consisting of 9,500 American and Chinese women who survived invasive breast cancer. The team monitored and measured the intake of soy isoflavones in women for more than seven years. At the end of the study period, they found that ingestion of soy isoflavones significantly reduced the risk of breast cancer recurrence and also slightly reduced the risk of breast cancer death, but this ratio was not statistically significant. The researchers published their findings in the July 2012 issue of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

Endocrinologists at Sichuan University in China analyzed data from many previous studies to assess the role of conventional soy isoflavones in preventing osteoporosis in women. They found that women who regularly took soy isoflavone supplements had a 54% increase in bone mineral density. They also reported that regular intake of isoflavones was associated with a significant reduction in bone resorption levels, and old bones were broken down and their minerals were transported back into the bloodstream. Their meta-analysis results were published in the March 2012 issue of the Asia-Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine.

4)Menopause symptoms

Due to its chemical similarity to female sex hormone estrogens, Soybean extract powder isoflavones provides an alternative for women who cannot tolerate conventional hormone replacement therapy for a variety of reasons after menopause. Researchers at the University of Catania in Italy studied the efficacy of isoflavones in the treatment of menopausal symptoms, and the results were mixed. Although soy isoflavones can reduce vasomotor symptoms such as hot flashes by 40%, and the incidence of insomnia and depression is low, they have little effect (if any) on menopausal musculoskeletal pain and vaginal dryness. The results were published in the February 2012 book Minerva Ginecologica.
